About

Hi, I’m Yanzhu, an Assistant Professor in the DIG team at Télécom Paris, Institut Polytechnique de Paris. My research focuses on the evaluation and alignment of large language models, with particular interests in linguistic diversity, creativity, multilingualism, and multiculturalism.

I completed my PhD in the ALMANaCH team at Inria Paris, where I was advised by Chloé Clavel. During my PhD, I was also affiliated with the DaSciM team at École Polytechnique.

Before that, I earned an engineering degree from École Polytechnique and an undergraduate degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. I also spent some time as a research intern at Apple AIML.

I’m originally from Beijing and have lived in New York and Shanghai before settling in Paris. Outside of research, I enjoy learning languages, slow travel through rural areas, painting, creative writing, and making pottery. You can see some of my recent artwork here.

• October 2026: Our paper on attention-graph curvature for verifying mathematical reasoning, led by Kanghyeon Kim as part of his research internship, was accepted to the 6th MATH-AI Workshop at NeurIPS 2026.
• September 2026: Our paper on evaluating cultural awareness of LLMs for Haitian Creole, led by Christelle Clervilsson as part of a research project in the DataAI master’s program, was accepted to the PANDORA workshop at EMNLP 2026.
• July 2026: Presented our TACL paper on benchmarking linguistic diversity in LLMs at ACL 2026.
• December 2025: Joined DIG at Télécom Paris as an Assistant Professor.
• June 2025: Our paper on benchmarking linguistic diversity in LLMs was accepted to TACL.
